LSSURP Expectation
I believe the LSSURP Program at the University of Minnesota Department of Pharmacology can help me gather the necessary tools for my medical and doctorate education. It will expand my horizons by offering a variety of experiences in an area I am very interested, Cancer Genetics. Also, it will help me gain more
knowledge, which is always needed in the MD/PhD degree I wish to obtain. This is why
I strongly believe this summer internship will give me access to put in practice the
experience obtained throughout my time in research as an undergraduate student.
Furthermore, it may give me a background of the cellular pathways of genes that when expressed may influence the severity of a very common and threatening disease as cancer. This is why I believe this summer program will be a fundamental step in my preparation as a future research doctor by answering many interrogates regarding the genetics field and its importance on cancer therapeutic treatments.
